OKLAHOMA CITY –

Oklahoma City police released new security camera footage on Monday of a weekend Bricktown shooting that injured a security guard. The security guard was hospitalized, and police officials said he was expected to survive.

Police have not identified the suspect and said the security guard was not the intended target. Gunshots shut down Brickopolis located across from the Bricktown ballpark shortly before the business was set to close early Sunday morning. Employees told police they heard two to three gunshots.

The police report stated the security guard on duty opened the south doors and told everyone to get on the ground and that he had been shot. The security guard was able to call police. “When they arrived, they located on person who had been shot in the torso,” said Sgt.

Dillon Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department. “He was transported to a local hospital.”   Officers made a large perimeter around the business and started checking for security video. The best video came from a camera at Brickopolis.

Police said two men were shooting at each other and the security guard was caught in the crossfire. The owner of the Bricktown Water Taxi said his business was closed but the cameras were on and also captured the shooting. The suspect walked away and hid his gun before police got there.

However, investigators were confident the video will help identify him. “We spoke to some witnesses on scene who heard gun shots, but nobody saw the altercation,” said Quirk.  Police were looking into if the suspect and the other shooter were involved in another incident in Bricktown the same night.

“There was an altercation at some businesses nearby as some of the clubs were letting out that night,” said Quirk. “We don’t know if that’s connected or not.”

Citizens are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 405-235-7300.
