Owasso police report rise in car burglaries
OWASSO, Okla. — Investigators with the Owasso Police Department are reporting a rise in car burglaries.
The news comes just one day after they arrested a man trying to steal catalytic converters inside a homeowner’s garage.
Police say the homeowner was watching his home surveillance video when he noticed someone trying to get under his car. He called 911, and officers say it’s a good thing that he reacted quickly.
“He said there was someone in his garage, and he thought the guy was cutting catalytic converters off of one of his vehicles,” said Lt. Nick Boatman.
This is not the first time that the homeowner has dealt with theft.
Boatman adds, “as soon as we pulled up, the guy came out, and he came out with his hands up.”
Dwayne Davis was arrested. He’s facing trespassing and larceny charges. Two other people were also taken into custody.
Officers say they were in a car across the street, waiting for Davis.
Kellie Miller is facing charges for drug possession within 2,000 feet of a school.
Chad Wayne Ackart also had a warrant out for his arrest.
The arrest happened near Rejoice Private Schools.
Police say they received lots of calls about the arrest, but this incident was not related to the school in any way.
